The Wii (pronounced as the pronoun "we," IPA:[wi?]) is a video game console released by Nintendo. The console was previously known by its project code name of Revolution, and is the successor to the Nintendo GameCube. Although the Wii console primarily targets a demographic different to that of Microsoft's Xbox 360 and Sony's PlayStation 3, as part of the seventh generation of gaming consoles it competes with the other two on some levels. Satoru Iwata, President of Nintendo, has said "As we've stated before, we're not thinking about fighting Sony, but about how many people we can get to play games. The thing we're thinking about most is not portable systems, consoles, and so-forth, but that we want to get new people playing games."A distinguishing feature of the Wii console is its wireless controller, the Wii Remote, which can be used as a handheld pointing device and can detect motion and rotation in three dimensions. The console also notably features WiiConnect24, which enables it to receive messages and updates over the Internet while consuming very little electrical power.
Nintendo first mentioned the console in the 2004 E3 press conference and later unveiled the system at the 2005 E3. Satoru Iwata revealed a prototype of the controller at the September 2005 Tokyo Game Show. In the 2006 E3, the Wii console won the first of several awards. At December 8, 2006, the console completed its launch in three key markets

i think it's not powerful like xbox 360 or ps3, but it has a new philosophy of gaming... and i like zelda and super mario too! So i like it! and i hope to buy it soon!

Nope, im A sony fan. Im getting the PS3 as soon as it is released here in europe. So thatll be march then. Ive preordered off Play.com so hopefully it will be here on the day of release XD So long as they dont delay it again i dont care. We are going to buy the Wii as soon as we can get our hands on one. So far we haven't had any real luck. We will not stand outside of a store to get one. So just have to wait until we come across one. Which is hopefully soon cause both my husband and I really want to play it. [Penguinsangel]

I will not be buying the Nintendo WI though it looks pretty cool plus it is not as expensive as the Playstation 3. I do not play video games quite as much as I used to. Maybe at some point I will but right now I will not. [kgwat70]
I'd get the wii and the ps3 once when they are available again at online shops. It may not be as powerful as the ps3 or xbox but it has all the favorite games of my brothers on it. So I'd definately buy a ps3 and wii for them. [omega007]
i had super nintendo back few years and that was a great gaming console but after sony introduced playstation brand i almost forgot the name of nintndo but now they have also released this new gaming console which looks cool not like some gaming consoles inbetween wii and super nintendo released i will try to buy wii because i loved super nintendo hope its as good as atleast playstation 3 [shahge_ahsan]
I'm a big fan of nintendo because their games and systems focus more on playability than graphics. Plus I have a hard time getting used to the controllers from other systems. I will be getting a Wii as soon as I can get my hands on one. I can't wait to play the new Zelda. The preview is exciting and the game is reviewed to meet the standards of Ocarina of Time. yes, i've already a wii! i bought it on launch day in italy, 7 dec, with zelda, wii play, a nunchuk, redsteel... it's very very very fantastick!! zelda it's a masterpiece of nintendo!!!! wiiplay isn't so good... but it's a gift for the secondo wiiremote you buy... wiisports is amazing! with friends it's better than a war! redsteel is a very nice firstshootgame... with others consoles, like ps2 o psp, and their 2 stick of gamepad this games are very bad... but now it's fantastic! I want one but I am not crazy enough to go camping out at my local Walmart or K-mart. I wouldrather wait till after christmas when the price goes down then I will go get one. Personally, I'm not a video gamer so I wouldn't buy it for myself. However, my fiance and my brother are both gamers, but I still wouldn't buy it for either of them. While the game system is coined as "state of the art" and the actual gaming experience seems rather fun, there has been a lot of negative press surrounding the "wiimote" (the controller). Many people have either been physically injured by the wiimote or have had property damaged as a result of the wrist band breaking and the wiimote flying out of the players hand. Until they fix this problem, I wouldn't want to take the risk of bodily harm or property damage. [zuri25]

I had hoped I would not have to purchase this new game system, since I have purchased all the others on the market. But, son informed he really wanted this one for his Birthday which is in April. well i like to buy one but i am awaiting for sony play station 3 and PlayStation 3 will launch with the crucial components of a PS2 embedded into its architecture, enabling owners to play every PS2 game ever released. Both PS2's Emotion Engine and graphics chip will be included in PS3's hardware - in a similar way to how PS2 contains parts from PSone - claims Japnese tech magazne Ultra One. But the benefits of next-gen, plus PS3's ability to go online to download new software, means that every old game should work - unlike with PS2, which was unble to read a number of PSone games. But this isnt a permanent fix. The inclusion of PS2 bits is a temporary measure to bridge the gap between PS3's release and Sony's tech-guys building a robust PS2 emulator for the next-gen console. Hopefully, this wouldn't be in the same style as Xbox 360's, which is only compatible with a fraction of Xbox game.We knw that backwards compatibility is still a very important element of any next-gen console.so i will opt for ps3. Well I personally feel that the Nitendo Wii combines the best of simplicity and technological advances in one sleek gadget. The controller is innovative and the gamse are created with the same amount of creativity in mind. Wii may not be the mini supercomputer that PS3 is but to be honest who needs such power for video gaming? News has it that Wii is outselling PS3 or the XBox 360 and I think its innovativeness is key. I have also heard horrible stories about the Wii where people have got carried away and ended up physically hurting themselves and others while playing the games.
