sadOk, his name is Liu Xiang. He announced his quit at 11:55am yesterday morning. He's the champion of 110m hurdles in 2004 Olympic Games. The first one of Chinese history to get that gold medal and also break the world record. 4 years later, what has happened to him.
All people are in great hopes of his victory again in our own country, in 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Are we placing too much pressure on him? What will you do if you were him, what do you take this incident? Is he degrade because of paying too much attention to economic activities, such as activities? confused
It is really a pity/ Good luck Liu Xiang, hope you recover soon and fly again

Hi lynettebyc, I was watching that and The way his face was we all new he was in pain but he tried to carry on but when some one fault started and he started to limp he knew he couldn't go on, it was such a shame but he will be like you said flying again. Tamara [tamarafireheart]
This is extremely regrettable for the Chinese. [xyrrwcom]
If I were him,I will continue to run,if I can go. [xyrrwcom]
It was a great pity for him, but I thought the reaction was a little ott. The Chinese have won many medals and are top of the leaderboard. Spare a thought for the lesser nations who do well to even get there, nevermind win a medal. He did well four years ago, but like our Paula Radcliffe, just wasn't fit for the big day. Your country are putting on a great show, lynette. [Scoop_Dogg]
It is unfortunate that he had to withdraw, and I have followed his story on our American TV networks. But if he is hurt like he says, it is good for him to sit out. It would be awful if he competed, and then injured himself so badly that he never was the same. Several of our own American athletes have had to drop out of competition, one being the gold medal winner in his respective sport (NOT track and field) back in Athens in 2004. But if he had competed, he surely would have hurt himself even worse. It is sad though to work so hard, and not be able to compete in something he has trained all his life for. [AmbiePam]
Was this the guy who flew the torch up to the bigger torch? What a shame that he got injured! Safety first is the best motto. It is only right for him to quit and recover. I hope he can get some acupuncture. [olivemai]
I have used acupuncture many times now and for more than fifteen years! I cannot wait to have a another session. [olivemai]
In fact I think it's not so normal because here the media all have one voice for Liu Xiang. I still have many doubts about this issue, and I know there are some people feel the same like me. I've read a lot via the net about this issue and there are both positive and negative opinions about it from the individuals. In my opinion, I think this issue is somewhat doubtful. I really wish Liu Xiang quit it because of injury. If I were him, I would quit to run before the match and told everybody I did so because I was injured. As long as I was in the competition, I would not quit it. I would try to finish it. I love China [youless]
happyHey, youless, i doubt that too. Things won't be that simple. If he's really badly hurt and can't attend the competition, he should have known his own health condition and announce beforehand. If he's not that injured, he should have fallen from the competition, not right before the race. It's kinda of performance from my point of viewsad [lynettebyc]
Hey, Im sorry to hear that. I hope he is fine. It was great that he broke the world record and that he won the gold medal back then. He tried this year but I guess he is getting on in years or just plain bad luck. Well, a speedy recovery to Liu Xiang and goodluck to all of the players. [bjcyrix]
Yeah I saw. Congratulations on your hardwork. Wow!50+ Gold medals! [bjcyrix]
yeah, that's really big loss for our chinese team, i feel sorry for that though by no means i'm a sports fan. people around me are all regretful for him. [gabbana]
I am sorry to hear that he quit my friend because it sounds like he was one of the bests and I am glad to hear that he was the first one in Chinese history to get the gold medal for the 110m hurdles, and that he broke the world record,it does seem like everyone was putting to much pressure on him,and I think if I were him I would have quit also, and I think he might be degraded because of all the attention on economic activities. I feel that is better to keep up with the cultures of different countries to get a better understanding of them because we are all brothers and sisters under God,have a great day, good luck in your life, and Happy Posting my friend. [hellcowboy]
lynettebyc hi I watched the poor guy Liu Ziang, and he was in' agony and still he tried to run the hurdles but he just could not. You could see he was in real pain and that doing any more'hurdling would just make his injury that much worse. I was sad for him and for Chinese people too, but surely no one could fault him for stopping before he could not walk at all? No medal is worth ruining your legs for, not any way shape or 'form.
