Monopoly is one of my favorite board games. It is a game with the aim of dominating the market. The more properties you will have, mainly real estates, the more chance of winning. It is really fun especially if you already owned a lot of properties. I often play Monopoly when I was young. It's fun because you are using a play money and you have a chance to be wealthy and to be poor. It's really a nice game, exciting. How about you, do you like playing Monopoly board game? I have to agree this really is a great game i have played it since i was a 10 and i still play it sometimes. the problem is you cant play it with bad losers, but that's a problem with all games i guess. but to play it with people with good sense of humor- then it's really fun. if i ply it with people the i can often be persuaded to do some irrational decisions. but against AI in computer game i have no mercy whatsoever. Yes, it is really indeed a great game. Yes, all players should show sportsmanship even if they're losing. Monopoly is good for at least 3 persons, playing alone is not that exciting unless you are playing against computer. Actually I missed playing monopoly. I really love that game. I use to play when I was a kid and loved it.By the time my daughter was old enough to play,I had no choice but to play along.I really didn't care for it as much as when ,I was a kid. But she loved the money part ,so of course I played.Thank goodness she is a adult now.If she ever finds a decent guy and has children ,I guess once again I will be playing it .I personally think it is educational with the money part,also teaching them about responsibility and how to take chances. Oh I always like to play monopoly when I was taking my vacation back home in Philippines. I always play this game with my mom, my youngest bro and other friends at home. It was how you manage to buy properties and at the same time, your luck on those dice when you throw. Most of the time i get jailed but bailed out because of the card I always get. I don't usually win the first, but I always land on being second or third from the game lol. It is exciting to buy one same color of block, that's how you take control and have an edge. I always wanted to buy the most expensive lot. So that other players pay more when they land on your property. Once I get the same color, i immediately build a house, it will be a good investment and trick for me. But I am just careful not to get a chance card paying the taxes on per house or building I ownw00t. [strawberrychocodahi]
Yes, you did say what to expect in the game. Very well said actually. It is game of luck but you also have to think well and manage your money wisely in buying properties. It's become more exciting by the presence of chance and community choice. I also tend to buy those most expensive properties because it cost too much for the visitors. Specially if you manage to own all properties in the same color. Additional headache for your opponents is you already built houses and hotel to that properties. Lol! Monopoly was one of my favorite games when I was young too. I have not played it in a while though because we do not have it anymore. Once I was playing with my parents and I somehow collected all the one dollars. I was still poor though because I did not have much of the other dollar bills. I also had Starwars Monopoly. The little statues were characters from the movie. And the properties were probably locations that were in the movie, but I do not remember what they were. [Weirdology]
Yes, it is really most popular before, and we are still young at that time. But until now we can still remember it since we really enjoyed playing that board game. Haha, 1 dollar bill are the smallest one there is in monopoly. Even you have plenty of them, you can still considered poor, because we need those higher bills to win. Lol! It is really a nice game. I suppose that I would like this game if everyone I played with didn't cheat. It's really frustrating when you're playing by the rules and everyone is cheating. It's like real life. The banker is giving money away to the other side and endless squabbles about which number the dice rolled on. I don't know maybe I need better people to play with. [dance4life]
It is really not good to cheat and when someone is doing that, the essence of the game disappears . It is not going to be exciting anymore. It is really not enjoyable playing with cheaters. As a kid I use to be addicted to playing monopoly although no one would want to play as the games always took too long. I did have it on my last computer but ended up playing games when I should have been working so got strict with myself and haven't put it on my new computer. What I liked about it was that it was quite educational. To win it was best to work out a stratergy on which areas you were going to buy. Plus it also taught you how to count as you handed out the money. I did hear that the newer versions no longer use paper money but operate with monopoly debit cards which you place in a machine and it does it all for you, which to me sounds like less fun and less education. Yes, that is the disadvantage of that game. You can't play alone. Actually you can, but it will not be exciting. So it's really better to play it against another players. But with the presence of the game in computer, it can now be enjoyed alone. But since it is quite addictive, we should not play it at work, just like what you did. Lol! Hello markmoney!!! yeah, monopoly is very interesting game to play sometimes. Now and then I get interested in playing that game haha. Like you, when I was young I used to like that game even more. I can still remember playing that game with my brothers and sisters. Sometimes the whole day used to go just by playing that game, you know how long is the monopoly game, very difficult to finish up. Haha, I remember how careless I was and used to misplace those duplicate money. After playing continuosly for few days, I used to get lazy with that game. I used to love playing Monopoly, I havent played it in a long time thou. I just cant find the time to play, that is one game that can take hours! Good topic :-) I always think it is an interesting game and I like playing BUT I only like to play it or KEEP playing it when I have lots of money and have money to buy properties, I like to do investment on it instead of just paying for others and have no chance to buy properties... otherwise, I would feel so discouraging and just play it for the sake of being part of it :-p [mermaidivy]

Though Monopoly is a great game to introduce children or people to investments, chance and risk, it is difficult to finish within at least five hours. Not one time that I have played it, has the game actually been finished, with one person ruling over all of the lots, etc. One person will go bankrupt, and we'll just count the person with the highest $$ amount as the winner. I really enjoy that Monopoly. It was one of the first board games I've learn growing up in day care. I love the house to hotel concept and earn more money. It feels now like I'm playing a complicated craps game hoping to hit doubles for 2 times and then a 11 at the end. Try my best to get to go and buy as much properity without landed on your neighbors block. I remember when monopoly first was introduced in a PC platform. I've played that everyday hoping to beat the computer. But when I played I realized how good the computer was to normal human intelligence or lets say their luck. Computer just had undying luck that kept happening when needed or introduced a situations where they might lose bad. But overall, I loved and enjoyed this game and I hope to teach my family one day. While I do indeed enjoy playing Monopoly, there are several factors which prevent me from playing on a regular basis. For one thing, there are few times of the year when I'm around enough people to really get a good sized game going. For another reason, Monopoly generally takes at least a few hours if not more to really finish a game and I prefer to not start any task which I am unable or unwilling to finish. I like to play it! When I was child, I always play that with my parents and sister.. but now as I'm busy with all task, I don't have time to play it anymore. But when i come to my auntie house, I still play it with my little sister. I do like the game but never seem to win and sometimes get very stressed out! One time I was playing it with my other half and I landed on one of his hotels and was so cross I threw the board in the air and everything flew all over the caravan we were staying in. We were finding little green plastic houses for days afterwards. I had the Star Wars version at one time too and my friend had to go out for bike ride in the middle of the game to calm down. I now play a version on my computer which is probably safer, as long as I don't decide to throw the laptop lol [magickat]
